What is an EV?

EV or Electric vehicles are vehicles that use a battery to a certain or full extent to move the vehicle. There are many types such as hybrid and full battery electric vehicles. As the electric vehicle is being driven, the battery on it starts to run out and eventually needs to be charged.

How long does it take to charge an electric vehicle?

Depending on the type of charger used some vehicles can charge in as quick as 20 minutes while others can take 2 or more hours.

Level 1 chargers, while cheaper to install and operate, have charging times as high as 6 hours!

Level 2 chargers, which can be slightly more expensive (if your residence needs additional upgrades) can charge in about 2 hours for a 200 mile range.

DC Fast chargers (also known as level 3 chargers) can charge a vehicle as quickly as 20 minutes but require major hardware and electrical upgrades, in addition to permission and support from your local electricity supplying company.

How can I install a wall charger at my place of residence?

Different manufacturers make different type of wall chargers. Depending on the charger type, you may need to have a certified electrician check whether your residence’s electrical system can support the charger or whether additional upgrades will be needed.

But if everything checks out, it is as simple as a certified electrician wiring it up in your place of residence.

What is the estimated payback period for hosting a chargepoint?

Depending on the number of EV owners, cost of electricity, and additional upgrades that maybe needed to support a chargepoint, you can see payback in as early as 6 months. Certain cities, counties and states also offer tax incentives that could decrease that payback period by even more.

What are the benefits of hosting a chargepoint?

Hosting a chargepoint is a great way of generating passive income through allowing EV owners to use your charging station. You can make money while someone else is charging their vehicle with your chargepoint. After the payback period (which can be in as short as 6 months),
